Wonderful Asean Night by MIIT Rangers

The embassy had ask us to perform Malaysian traditional dance in conjunction of Indian culture day in Cambodia. We had a discussion among our-self and we agreed to perform on that night and started to look for what dance we should perform. We search the internet for Tarian Zapin, Joget Pahang, Joget Lambak, Makyong and others Malaysian traditional dance.

At first, it was hard to select the suitable ones as we all have no experience in doing traditional dance. But finally, we choose the Joget Pahang for our performance and we try to find the references from "youtube" the step of dance. We search all that we could find on the title "Joget Pahang" on youtube and we study from there. As we known, Joget Pahang is performed in partners. So that, only four of us did the performance who is Kelly, Lynda, Khai and me(Nadia). However, Faiz became as our chronography because he have some experience in traditional dance before and become our photographer for the day as well.

Initially, we stumbled to get the steps right, but after couple of days practicing, we finally got the steps right. We always help each other to improve our performance. Moreover, the embassy had prepare all the necessary costume and accessories for us. The day before the performance,we rehearse in front of the embassies includes Datuk and Datin  with the complete outfit and accessories. There are a lot of mistake that we did and they try to help us to get it right.

Finally, the day have come for us to perform. We were greeted by the locals public figures. There were others representative from different country present to perform their traditional dances. We took this opportunity to know them and take picture for remembrance.

Well, the audience were happy and enjoyed by our performance. They were stunned and gave a big round of applause when we finish performing. We felt so happy that we are able to perform a Malaysian traditional dance in front of them. As a token of appreciation, we received a trophy from the organizers.

Lastly, we were honored that we were given this change and its a wonderful experience here in Cambodia.

Thanks to Embassy of Malaysia because give us this opportunities and not forgotten for UNIKL because send us to Cambodia.

A lot of thing we learn at here...
