On New Year’s Eve, we were
invited to the Embassy of Malaysia to have dinner to celebrate the end of year
2013. The dinner started at 8pm, but we head there earlier to help them with
the food and preparations. The dishes served at the dinner were delicious
Malaysian food such as chicken rice, sate, murtabak,
ketupat nasi with kuah kacang, and not to forget durian
cream cake, kek lapis, and local kuih
for desserts.
As the Embassy of Malaysia
situated just beside the Basaac River, after eating we all went out by the
river to enjoy the cool night breeze and the fireworks. We did our countdown to
New Year 2014 too as we watched beautiful fireworks colors lit Phnom Penh night
sky.
Even though we are not with our
family to witness the moment when 2014 finally came by, celebrating it with
Malaysian people made us felt we were closer to home than ever. Happy New Year!
