Siem Reap Trip Day 2 : Angkor Wat

On the previous post, we've shared about Kampong Phluk. Now, we wanna share about our trip to Angkor Wat.

We woke up as early as 4 am on the last day in Siem Reap because we don't want to miss a sunrise view at Angkor Wat. For your information, each person will be charged USD20 for one day pass. The system is quite interesting because they will take your picture and only you can use the pass at every temple. There will be ticket controller to check your pass.

The Angkor pass

We were so lucky to see the sunrise at Angkor Wat, and it's really beautiful. Subhanallah.

Sunrise. Speechless.

Angkor Wat is undoubtedly a monument which is surrounded with mystery. It was first a Hindu and later became a Buddhist temple complex located in Cambodia and is the largest religious monument in the world. The temple was constructed by Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century in Yasodharapura (Angkor), the capital of the Khmer Empire, as his state temple and eventual mausoleum. The temple is at the epitome of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors.

We've covered 3 big temples which is Angkor Wat, Bayon & Ta Prohm. It was very tiring to walk around the temples but we still enjoy the unique architecture and cant really imagine how they built the temple.

Ta Prohm is a beautiful temple, bound by massive roots of huge trees.

Lara Croft : Tomb Raider were filmed here.

We were glad we did this trip and it so worth it. A vacation with the education.
