JALAN-JALAN CARI MAKAN IN PHNOM PENH #5

Asmak 81

From the name, we know that the owner of this restaurant is a muslim (who told that Phnom Penh is difficult to find halal food?). ASMAK 81 is located at street #174 near the Psar Thmey. We can just take a walk from the Psar Thmey to this restaurant. (Note: Walking is a good exercise plus we can save the money for transportations)

See the direction from Psar Thmey

This restaurant provides Free Wifi, a nice view for who sits at the bar and also some tables for those who want to sit on the floor without using a chair but we never tried to sit there. It is because we like to sit at the same table since the first time we came here which is in front of the air cond.

The nice view at the back of our models (Nana and Apai) ;)

The most recommended food to eat at this restaurant is the sweet, sour and spicy fish.  The taste is very good, almost the same like we eat at Siamese restaurants. The sweetness of the fish is balanced with sour and spicy taste. The prices are cheaper than Malaysia. Let us guess together how much does it costs for this dish? If you guess the price is $7, then you are wrong. $6 is also wrong. It was cheaper than what we all expected. It only cost us $4 for this delicious sweet, sour and spicy fish.

Chengan! (in Khmer it means delicious)

If you order the plain rice with the side dishes, the staffs will stand near your table and see if our rice in the plates are finish or not. They will help you to pour for another serving of rice until to you tell him to stop. They have nice and polite staffs.  We always eat there until the staffs already knew us all.

So, obtaining halal foods is not an issue for you not to bring your family for holidays in Cambodia especially Phnom Penh.  See you in the next entry of JALAN-JALAN CARI MAKAN.
