The Meeting

After we had done some preparations, we conducted a meeting with Mr Lytour, Miss Pheakdey and Mr Sovatna. The topics we discussed were the network survey report, teaching module and the corporate video for RUA. Unfortunately Dr Seng Mom could not join us because she was very busy.

First, we all talked about the outcome of the survey on internet usage. We did a survey to some of the lecturers and students of RUA. Based on the survey, we can see that the network system in RUA is lack in speed and availability. The lecturers and students reported that the internet connection is slow and sometimes it was hard to connect due to IP conflicts.

We discussed about the network problem and try to find a solution for this matter. We suggested that RUA should upgrade the speed of the internet connection but Mr Lytour said that they are financially incapable to upgrade the network speed.

So we thought about the idea of trying to accumulate some funds by collecting a small amount of money from the students who wish to use the internet. Using the funds collected RUA, can upgrade the internet speed and also use two ISPs; one for students and another one for the lecturers. This will ensure high availability and sufficient speed for all residents of RUA to use the internet.

Mr Lytour agreed with our suggestion but he needs to discuss with Dr Seng Mom first. He will let us know if there is any feedback. We told him that this is a long term project and maybe it will take a lot of time to do it. However, it will be very beneficial to the university and the fund collected is also useful to upgrade the network system. After that, Mr Lytour also suggested that we use another router settings to try and set up the network system.

About the teaching module maybe we will start on April because there are many preparations that need to be done, plus the ongoing projects which we have to complete first before we can start teaching. The posters are almost complete except we haven’t set the exact dates for the classes to start. We already prepared the modules but we still need to make sure that it will be appropriate with the students’ level.

We also discussed about the corporate video project for RUA. Mr Sovatna said that he will prepare the videos and pictures necessary for the contents of the corporate video. Finally after finish discussing all the matters, we ended the meeting.
