Phsar Thmey is the source of income for many locals in Phnom Penh. While for most of the visitors, it is a shopping heaven. The market stocks just about everything you could possibly want and many things you won't find anywhere else with the same price. Shoes, clothes, designer label stuff, luggage, watches and all kinds of things at amazing prices. Can you imagine that the market also sells all kind of food (chicken, meat, pork, fish, crabs, snails, snakes, and even insects) and materials for everyone from newborn to adult.

The entrance

The market opens from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. Most tourists visit this market because they want to see the extensive amount of products that are offered here for bargain. The area around the market is now the commercial center of Phnom Penh. So if you love shopping you should come to the market’s area and you will find many kinds of shops.

Shop a lot, 'til ya drop!

Here are some bargaining tips if you want to shop here or at any other markets. First, choose the thing you want to buy and ask for the price. When the seller names the price, you ask for half of the price. If the seller said it is too cheap, just add up $1 until the seller agrees with the price. If the seller doesn’t give you the price that you want, just leave the stall and said the price too expensive. Usually after you walk away for 2 or 3 steps, they will call you back and agrees with the price that you had asked before. Just make sure you don’t start bargain if you don’t want to buy or they will push you to buy their things and it is kind of annoying.

If you have the chance, come here to Phnom Penh and visit the famous Phsar Thmey. You will surely enjoy shopping here.
