Its Networking Time.....
Royal University of Agriculture consist of 12 Faculties. Each faculties is connected to the main server in a Server Room Lacated next to It Deparment Office. Looking at their networking system within the University or their LAN network, we can categorized it as unpropper because the cabel is scareted all over the place, and there is no propper cabel trunk. The LAN cable just hanged on the tree or using the electrical pole, But we cannot blame them because there is only 2 personnel who responsible to manage the entire networking system in the University.
The main problems with the networking system in RUA is unstable Internet connection in some faculty that situated far from the server room. The problems accurs because the LAN cable is too long and and the signal weekends as it travel through the LAN cable and make it unstable once it reach some Faculties. we suggest that they put some reapeter to extend the signal strength and counter this kind of problems. One of the technition said it will be done once they have budget from the University Administation.
For the mean time, we troubleshoot some network failure in Land Management Faculty. Some of the computers cannot connect to internet. after fixing the problems, we go to other faculty where the wireless have no Internet Connection. After some trubleshooting we figure out that the IP address for the wireless is unmatch with the IP address at the server. after fixing the problemswe test the wireless conectivity and the problems is resolve.
After that, we have some disscussion with the IT technition about upgradding their networking system, or maybe switch to fully fiber optic sysytem and upgradding their internet speed. They responded that it has been planned but only can be done when the administrator have approved their budget to upgrade the networking system. We hope that we will still be here then the budget is approve to have a chance involving in fiber optic installation because that is such an experience.
